Values and Actions

Today's world sometimes seems to be coming apart at the seams - terms like "common sense," "being the good guys," "Hanseatic" behavior, and people's words no longer refer to universally valid values in a globalized world: we understand that in a global world, we must describe what we do more explicitly than ever before.

Quality

We love our products. We retain the Hanseatic and traditional approach to creating our handcrafted products in the best way known in our industry. We are innovative in how we operate in the market and drive change in our industry. We want this love for our products and innovation to shine through in everything we do. We look forward to the opportunity to work with our customers: We work with our customers on marketable terms. We provide service in a personal, old-fashioned way, as Hanseatic merchants always have – and this guarantees you a perfect product every time and lets you enjoy the best night's sleep. Every night.

Finances

We consider ourselves local citizens, and adherence to rules and regulations through financial means is part of our self-conception. We pay our taxes locally where we conduct business. We pay all local licenses and fees required to conduct business locally. We do not transfer funds through licenses (or other means and constructions) to avoid local taxes or fees. We do not knowingly work with companies that obviously violate any of these policies, including our financial governance. We do our own thorough accounting. We hire external auditors to review our results. In addition, supervised certified auditors audit our accounting and confirm the compliance of our annual financial statements with local requirements and our own highest standards.

Chemistry

We do not commission third parties to use products or raw materials that have been manufactured with hazardous chemicals or potentially hazardous chemicals on our behalf. In order to assume responsibility towards our customers and the environment in accordance with our corporate governance principles, we insist on compliance with and monitoring of chemical-free products and production standards in relation to our core business. Our Chemical Policy serves both our business partners and us as a guideline for implementing sustainable practices for designing chemical-free products, production processes, and complete supply chains. For every new product or raw material we purchase or partnership we are involved in, a member of the management board must confirm in writing that compliance with this policy has been documented and fulfilled.

Social affairs

We maintain the highest social standards in our facilities across the globe and ensure our partners do the same. We have therefore joined the Business Social Compliance Initiative and all our facilities and sites are independently audited to meet a fair code of conduct. Ironically, this commitment did not come at the expense of price. We have found that a more stable and committed workforce promotes our quality and guarantees you a sustainable product and production.

CO2 Targets / Reduction Targets

Our goal is to become a climate-friendly company with climate-friendly products by 2030. We have assessed our corporate carbon footprint. For a first subsidiary - Weltbett - we have been purchasing Gold Standard Carbon Credits to offset the CO2 footprint of Weltbett since 2023. We have assessed the carbon footprint (full upstream GHG) of our most frequently sold products (naturally filled pillows, duvets, and encased coil and foam mattresses). These collectively account for more than 97% of our annual production (both in USD and physical volume). We continue to implement measures to reduce carbon dioxide along the supply chain and in our facilities to lessen our environmental footprint. We update our goals annually and also regularly update our corporate governance policies.
